Max Shokat, D.O.
Max S. Shokat, DO, is a board-certified pain management physician who serves patients at Southern Interventional Pain Center in Thomasville, Georgia, and Lake City and Tallahassee, Florida. He is passionate about caring for his patients with a whole-body approach, offering non-operative pain relief for a variety of conditions, and providing effective solutions.
Dr. Shokat received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey, now known as Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and a fellowship at the University of Florida Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Gainesville, Florida, specializing in the non-operative treatment of spine, joints, bones, muscles, and nerve pain.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Shokat began his medical career as a combat medic for the United States Army Reserves. Today he stays on the cutting-edge of his industry, conducting valuable research, presenting at conferences, and publishing articles in professional journals. Dr. Shokat has received many honors for his work and is an active member of several professional associations, including the American Osteopathic Association, Georgia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.
Dr. Shokat is an active member of the Thomasville community, where he resides with his family.
Bill Dougherty, PA-C
Bill Dougherty is a certified Physician Assistant who has assisted Dr. Shokat since 2012. He has specialized training in orthopaedic medicine and pain management as well as internal medicine, family practice, and rural medicine. Mr. Dougherty began his medical career in the U.S. Army and served for twenty years. He received a Master of Science from the University of Nebraska and a Bachelor of Science, Physician Associate from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Dougherty is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc. Additionally, he has an associate certification in Controlled Substance Management. Professional affiliations include American Academy of Physician Assistants. Mr. Dougherty has received numerous professional and military awards. He resides with his wife and two dogs near Thomasville, Georgia. Mr. Dougherty is an active member of the community and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jonathan Tarin, NP-C
Jonathan Tarin is a Nurse Practitioner who joined Southern Interventional Pain Center in March of 2020. He is a graduate of the South University Family Nurse Practitioner program. Jonathan has an extensive nursing background in the Intensive Care Unit caring for critically ill patients at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, GA. Prior to pursuing a career in nursing, Jonathan was a public-school teacher for 7 years.
Jonathan’s professional affiliations include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the AANP Pain Management Practice Specialty Group. He resides in Tallahassee, FL and is an active member of his church and community. He enjoys travelling, spending time with his family, reading, soccer and FSU/UGA football.

Dominique Greene, DNP, APRN
Dominique Greene is a Nurse Practitioner who joined Southern Interventional Pain Center in November 2021. She is a graduate from The University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education and Behavior, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. She is board certified with The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Dominique has an extensive history of caring for critically ill patients at UF Health and Lake City Medical Center. She has a passion for taking care of “the whole patient” and acknowledging the role that mental and spiritual health have in managing chronic pain. She lives in Lake City with her husband, dog, and 2 cats. Dominique is an active member of her church and community. In her spare time, she volunteers with The White Springs Fire Department as a Florida Certified Fire Fighter, cheers for the Florida Gators, and enjoys travelling.
Roger Pierce, NP-C
Roger J. Pierce Jr is a nurse practitioner who joined Southern Interventional Pain Center in September of 2023. He is a graduate of Albany State University with a Post-Graduate degree in Family Nurse Practitioner. He earned a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Nurse Education from Thomas University.
He is board-certified with The American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Roger has a vast history of caring which includes serving patients in home and inpatient hospice, home health, medical/surgical care, and psychiatric/mental health care. He currently serves as a board member on the Georgia Board of Nursing. He has a fervor to serve his patients and their families by applying a holistic approach to help them better understand their health and disease process.
He is married with three children and they reside in Grady County. He is an active member in his church and community and enjoys traveling, music, trying new foods, volunteering, and cheering for the Unsinkable, Indestructible, Distinguished Albany State Golden Rams and UGA.
